{what i did during my blog summer vacation}
i knitted my first baby surprise jacket (i say first because i already have plans to knit a second)
a pattern by Elizabeth Zimmermann (who would have turned 100 on August 9, 2010)
funny thing is that the sailboat card came before the buttons, i was thrilled at the store to find these sailboat buttons that perfectly matched the blue color yarn & the sailboat card

it's a baby sweater every knitter should knit
this was my inspiration ~ i decided to make mine 4 fat quarters by 4 fat quarters. i had never made a quilt before, lots of tips & tricks were found here, here, here, here, & here (for the batting i used bamboo batting) it turned out HUGE (about 6 ft by 7 ft)

i repurposed a vintage chenille bedspread (that i got from my mom) for the backing

this time i repurposed a man's white dress shirt ($7 at a thrift store) into anothersweet little dress ~ pattern from leila & ben
i added 3 ruffles down the front using some white sheer fabric (no raw edges exposed)
buttons in the back
to go with it i sewed a petticoat out of muslin with 3 ruffles on the bottom ~ raw edges everywhere... ideas on how to sew this look: here & here
that completes the kids clothes sewing challenge for me...
